Robert (Rob) Roscoe, will present this 60 minute program and will examine the prevalence of hypoglycaemia in type 2 diabetes patients on insulin. From the prevalence of hypoglycaemia he will describe the adverse outcomes associated with having episodes of lows. In order to assess and screen he will describe some simple practice tools which lead to identifying several strategies to minimize and manage hypoglycaemia in type 2 diabetes patients on insulin.
Challenging the Hypoglycaemia Care Gap: Hypoglycaemia in Type 2 diabetes patients treated with insulin.
He will also include and discuss the impact of the recently CDA CPG’s 2013 and hypoglycaemia. Topics including individualization of glycemic control, financial impacts of hypoglycaemia, and the obstacles that occur to good control when hypoglycaemia occurs.
The program is to be interactive with the presentation of at least 1 case or more depending on time. Rob has also positioned the program to allow participants to contribute their experiences as a group to identify novel methods to identify, assess, and how hypoglycaemia is managed in the various practices across the province.
